The Sarah Everard case horrified the UK and sparked nationwide outrage in 2021. Sarah, a 33-year-old marketing executive, was walking home in South London when she was abducted, assaulted, and murdered. The crime was especially disturbing because the killer, Wayne Couzens, was a serving Metropolitan Police officer who used his authority to falsely arrest Sarah, exploiting her trust before committing the crime. Couzens was later arrested, pleaded guilty, and received a whole-life prison sentence.
