In 1950s' Toowoomba, young women dressed in pastels for the carnival of flowers to celebrate the beginning of spring. In this clip, a large crowd has gathered for the crowning of the floral queen, who is adorned with a trail of blooms. Her fellow participants, from Toowoomba Youth Centre, do the heavy lifting, helping the queen get on stage.
