Possibly over 2,900 years old, this cup with a frieze of gazelles is attributed to the Iron Age II culture of northwestern Iran, near the Caspian region. Made of gold, it features four gazelles in procession framed by guilloche bands, their bodies rendered in repoussé with finely chased details, while the separately made projecting heads, ears, and horns were attached using colloid hard-soldering.
