A 24-year-old man who stands accused of slaying his little brother with a pickaxe was charged on Monday with murder and corporal injury to a child, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Zuberi Sharp, 24, is the son of Calvin Sharp, who is now serving life without parole for murdering a 6-year-old.

The brutal killing is eerily similar to a murder Sharp’s father confessed to. Calvin Sharp used a meat cleaver to kill a 6-year-old boy, Sev’n Molina, in August 2007 and later told investigators he received messages from XM Satellite Radio ordering him to attack the child and stab the boy’s mother, the Ventura County Star reported at the time.

The victim of a brutal axe killing in Ventura County earlier this week has been identified as the suspect’s younger brother.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department (VCSD), officers initially responded to a call in the area of Jeanne Court and Gerald Drive after a teenager in the home suffered blunt force trauma.
