All 600 staff at the Vestas wind turbine factory on the Isle of Wight have been told they are at risk of redundancy. Employees at the Newport site have been warned up to half the workforce could be cut as demand for the blades they make comes to an end.

Denmark's Vestas said on Wednesday it would restructure its factory on Britain's Isle of Wight to manufacture onshore wind turbine blades instead of blades for offshore wind power, and that it would cut the number of jobs at the plant.
