A launch that was supposed to aid one of the largest automakers in the country has landed it in a soup. Mahindra and Mahindra, one of the biggest names in the car business, launched two new sets of electric SUVs with the Mahindra BE 6e and the Mahidnra XEV 9e.

Following a challenge from InterGlobe Aviation, Mahindra will change the name of its 'BE 6e' model to 'BE 6'. The company intends to fight the claim legally asserting the importance of brand rights.

Indian Mahindra and Mahindra on Tuesday said it is in talks to resolve a dispute with the country's biggest airline IndiGo which has filed a court challenge against the use of its call sign "6e" in the automaker's new electric vehicle offering.

Mahindra has announced that its newly launched electric SUV, the BE 6e, will be rebranded simply as ‘BE’ as it continues to battle a trademark infringement case with IndiGo Airlines. The dispute revolves around the use of ‘6E’ in the name of Mahindra’s electric vehicle, which IndiGo claims infringes on its trademark.

After accepting the undertaking, the court disposed of IndiGo’s plea for interim relief, issued summons to Mahindra, and scheduled the matter for April 2025.

On the back of Mahindra renaming its SUV BE 6, the Delhi High Court has disposed of the application for interim orders and adjourned the case to April 2025 for final hearing, according to a Bar and Bench report.
