Gregg Wallace, co-host of the wildly popular BBC show MasterChef, has apologized on social media for his response to the misconduct allegations that have been leveled against him. Television presenter Aggie MacKenzie, who competed on “Celebrity MasterChef” in 2011, told ITV on Monday that Wallace made “endless smutty jokes” and alleged that “he’s been allowed to carry on in his own sweet way for many, many years.”

Culture secretary Lisa Nandy has held talks with BBC bosses in the wake of the controversy, a spokesperson for the prime minister has said.
