Max Verstappen has gotten the better of his Formula 1 title rivals Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris to claim a surprise pole position for the British Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen saw off both McLarens as well as home hopefuls Lewis Hamilton and George Russell to take a stunning pole position for the British Grand Prix

The McLaren driver finished the second Silverstone practice session ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton

And the Brit was fastest after today’s free practice sessions in front of his home fans at Silverstone, clocking a 1:25.816 in FP2 from the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. Another home driver, Lewis Hamilton, had been quickest earlier in the day as he led FP1 for Ferrari with a 1:26.892.

Lewis Hamilton topped the first practice for his home Formula One British Grand Prix on Friday ahead of fellow British driver Lando Norris. The Ferrari man clocked 1 minute 26.
