Houston Police Department has terminated a recently hired police officer at the center of multiple use of force investigations while employed as a detention officer at Harris County Jail, according to an HPD social media post.

The use of force incident happened while Ortiz was a detention officer at the jail and just three months before he entered the police academy. In December, the police department reassigned Ortiz to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
