HPD has terminated a police officer who was at the center of multiple investigations stemming from alleged use of force while working as a detention officer.

The use of force incident happened while Ortiz was a detention officer at the jail and just three months before he entered the police academy. In December, the police department reassigned Ortiz to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
