Due to heavy rainfall in Chennai and suburban areas caused by Cyclone Fengal, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conducted a review at the State Emergency Operation Center. He held discussions with district collectors via video conferencing and instructed them to expedite relief efforts.

The uncharacteristically slow pace of the cyclone has caused it to hover over the Bay of Bengal, causing it to gather more moisture. According to experts, this is causing heavy rain in several parts of the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Cyclone Fengal, pronounced as Feinjal, will hit the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram close to Puducherry with a wind speed of 70-80 km per hour, gusting to 90 kmph, this afternoon.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the state is managing the impact of Cyclone Fengal effectively.

As per IMD, Cyclone Fengal is expected to make a landfall today (November 30). The department has said that Cyclone Fengal will cross north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Kariakal and Mahabalipuram close to Puducherry.

Cyclone Fengal will likely become a cyclonic storm, causing heavy to moderate rains in Tamil Nadu. Schools in 11 districts, including Chennai and Puducherry, will be shut on November 29 and November 30.

As Cyclone Fengal approaches the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, many coastal areas have experienced changes in weather, including high tides and rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported.
