A federal judge is set to hear closing arguments Wednesday over whether to stop construction indefinitely at an immigrant detention center in the Florida Everglades dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” as she considers whether it violates environmental laws.

A decision about halting construction and operation at Alligator Alcatraz is expected before the end of the day.

Florida's attorney general welcomed judges overseeing Alligator Alcatraz cases to visit the detention center. One of them wants to take him up on it.
