The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a Texas law that requires age verification for pornographic websites in one of the most closely watched First Amendment cases to arrive at the high court in years.

In a 6-3 decision, the court upheld House Bill 1181, a Texas law requiring pornographic websites to verify that users are over the age of 18.

Plaintiffs argued the law violated people’s privacy rights and could be used to restrict media, such as R-rated movies.
