The Cardinals made it a priority to trade third baseman Nolan Arenado this offseason but the team has been unable to find a partner.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado reported to spring training on Sunday, showing up to play for a team that spent much of the offseason trying to trade him. The eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner is owed $74 million for the next three seasons.

“I’m ready to work,” Arenado said. “It’s not awkward for my teammates and my coaches. And to be honest with you, it’s not really awkward with the front office. They have a job to do and I have a job to do.”
