Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says he is concerned about fairness and transparency after an $83.5 million-winning ticket was sold to a courier service that also owns the store where the ticket was bought.

“This is not the way the lottery was designed to operate,” Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, after the $83.5 million ticket was sold through an Austin retailer owned by a lottery courier.

Someone won an $83.5 million prize from the Texas Lotto, according to the Texas Lottery. The winner purchased the ticket at Winners Corner, at 7817 Rockwood Lane Ste 101B in Austin.
