Democrats take over San Diego County Board of Supervisors
Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre became the apparent winner this week in a San Diego County Board of Supervisors run-off election after Chula Vista Mayor John McCann conceded. Aguirre's unofficial victory, which is awaiting certification, gives Democrats control of the board.
South San Diego County voters will choose between Paloma Aguirre and John McCann to fill the vacant District 1 seat on the Board of Supervisors.
A total of 13 vote centers will open in San Diego's First Supervisorial District Tuesday as the final day of voting to replace former San Diego County Supervisor Nora Vargas begins.
