The European Union has announced a 90-day pause on countermeasures against the United States, a day after President Donald Trump unveiled a similar pause on his “reciprocal” tariffs.

The European Union voted Wednesday to impose new taxes on a range of products imported from the U.S. starting Tuesday, fulfilling its threat to retaliate against President Donald Trump’s 25% global tax on steel and aluminum exports to the U.S. implemented in March.

The European Union’s executive commission says it will put on hold for 90 days its retaliation measures against new U.S. tariffs to match President Donald Trump’s pause on his sweeping new tariffs and leave room for a negotiated solution.
