The SEC and Big Ten are discussing changes to their conference championship weekends, to the point where play-in games are now being discussed. Seth Emerson and Scott Dochterman of The Athletic relayed that news Wednesday,

The change supported by the leagues would eliminate the reservation of top-four seeds and first-round byes for conference champions.

The Big Ten and SEC are among the latter. They rule college football these days because of the television contracts and revenue those two monster conferences bring in. And now, it appears as though the two are looking to steer expansion of the College Football Playoff from 12 teams to 14 or 16 according to a report from Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.
