Christmas, Massachusetts and snow

From 10 a.m. through 3 p.m., light snow is expected to move in. Steady snowfall, with some mixing to the south, is expected after 3 p.m. and will continue into the overnight hours. By the time it's over, some parts of Massachusetts could see a few inches of snow.
Up to 3 inches of snow combined with a wintry mix is forecast for Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island, making for a sloshy Tuesday.
Snow is expected to sweep through Massachusetts this weekend, rounding out the last week of fall, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters expect an inch or two of snow south of the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) on Sunday, Dec. 14, and possibly 3 to 4 inches near the south coast of the Bay State.
The forecast leading up to the holiday is offering a bit of everything, from light snow to raindrops and strong winds. That said, Bostonians worried about a big winter storm this Tuesday can relax.
Graf said moderate, widespread snow is expected across the region if the storm takes a closer track. A farther track would mean snow flurries, mainly south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. “Still some uncertainty to iron out, so stay tuned as we fine-tune the track and snowfall potential,” Graf wrote in her latest weather blog.
Snow maps from the National Weather Service predict less than inch of snow is possible in parts of Massachusetts. The highest elevations of the Berkshires, mainly around Pittsfield, might see up to an inch of snow. The rest of the Berkshires and the northern Worcester Hills are likely to see less than that.
