As many as 3,000 students are expected to miss school on Wednesday in protest of the district's state-appointed board of managers and superintendent.

HOUSTON — In a matter of days, desks at many Houston ISD schools are expected to be empty as part of a protest. Parents and educational organizations are planning what they're calling a "sick-out" where students are expected to stay home instead of go to class.

Students will be absent and parents will protest that morning at 900 W. Gray outside of Wharton Dual Language Academy. The sickout will involve students and families from over 118 HISD schools, according to the group's estimate.

Houston ISD parents are protesting the school district by planning a district-wide sick out to demonstrate their opposition to the district's takeover of HISD. FOX 26's Jade Flury has more on what parents are saying.
