Eberechi Eze looked as though he said his goodbyes to the Crystal Palace fans at Stamford Bridge after being denied what might have been the perfect farewell by a little-known rule.
“On Friday night, Palace put the brakes on a deal for Eze under his £68m release clause, which has now expired. The reason for that was not because of a road block for Spurs and Palace, but because Palace did not have a replacement and still don’t have one lined up.
Oliver Glasner has praised Eze's professionalism but offered no guarantees he would remain at the club beyond the September 1 deadline.
