Angel Martínez had three hits, José Ramírez homered and the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 Tuesday night for their fourth win in five games since the All-Star break. Kyle Manzardo and Bryan Rocchio each drove in a pair of runs as the Guardians have won 10 of 12 after a 10-game losing streak to get back to .500 at 50-50.
The Guardians started early and finished last Tuesday night, much to the chagrin of the Orioles, who could not keep pace. Three batters into the first inning, Jose Ramirez hit his 21st homer and the Guardians delivered a steady stream of offense on the way to a 6-3 win at Progressive Field.
Cleveland Guardians fans haven't forgotten about Josh Naylor, but they do feel much better about the trade that sent him to the Arizona Diamondbacks last Dec. 21.
The Guardians used a left-handed starter and stacked nine lefties and/or switch-hitters in their lineup to beat the Orioles on Tuesday.
Baltimore’s Ryan O’Hearn, with two out in the third, sent a grounder to third baseman Jose Ramirez. Santana tried to scoop Ramirez’s throw, but it hit his glove and fell out. Former Guardian Ramon Laureano, the next batter, added an extra sting to the error by homering off Tanner Bibee for a 5-3 lead.
