Andrew Cuomo has halved Zorhan Mamdani’s lead in the race for New York City mayor with just a week to go until the election.
A reported 26 billionaires and rich families have spent at least $100,000 to support independent candidate Andrew Cuomo.
Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani remains the front-runner and former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is trying to catch him, while Curtis Sliwa refuses to be forced from the race. More than 200,000 ballots have already been cast.
Zohran Mamdani joins FOX 5 NY's political reporter Morgan McKay to discuss his policy proposals regarding affordability and education in New York City, as well as recent endorsements.
“I’d go half-and-half,” Cuomo said, trying to appeal to both sides. Laughter erupted inside the room as Mamdani and Curtis Sliwa, the republican nominee in the debate, both threw their hands up.
“Republican voters are not going to vote for Andrew Cuomo,” the city’s five GOP county chairs said in a joint statement, which included Manhattan GOP Chair Andrea Catsimatidis, John Catsimatidis’ daughter.
