A Powhatan family is counting their blessings after two people narrowly missed being hit by a large tree that crashed down onto the home's patio Friday night.

POWHATAN – Friends, family and co-workers gathered Friday to remember a Powhatan County employee with a tree dedication in the still developing Village Park.

The VDOF has recognized the family of Douglas D.R. Palmore as Century Forest Landowners for 120 years of ownership of their Powhatan County property.
