Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Lange, whose imaginative goal calls made his raspy voice immediately recognizable to Pittsburgh Penguin fans for decades, has died.

Broadcaster Mike Lange, who called Pittsburgh Penguins games for 46 years, has died, the team announced. He was 76.

Through his decades-long career, Lange became known for his goal calls, quirky catchphrases and colorful play-by-play announcing that, according to the team in a statement, "brought Penguins hockey to life.
