The University of Texas at Tyler has selected Dr. Sam Ferguson as the new athletic director, effective April 7.
Ferguson comes from Abilene Christian University, where he served as associate vice president and deputy athletic director.
Dr. Julie Philley is a native to the area, having grown up in the town of Overton, where her dream of going to college started.
