The Mardi Gras season, also referred to as Carnival, begins 12 days after Christmas on Jan. 6 and lasts until Fat Tuesday.

To commence carnival season, the King of Carnival proclaimed Mardi Gras 2026 and announced this year’s theme, “Rebirth and Renewal” at the annual King’s Day celebration.
