It was a split-squad day for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. The Pirates hosted the Baltimore Orioles at LECOM Park in Bradenton and were on the road to face the Atlanta Braves in CoolToday Park in North Port.

The real star of the win over the Pirates was Eli White. The outfielder, who has spent the last two seasons with Atlanta after beginning his career with the Texas Rangers, started in center field for the Braves. He went 3-for-3 as the lead off hitter.

The Atlanta Braves have a competition going to fill out their starting pitching rotation heading into the 2025 campaign.

Profar made his first appearance for the Braves in Wednesday’s 9-4 win over the Pirates. He needed no time getting into the groove of things, and hit a double on the first pitch he saw. Two batters later, Matt Olson came up clutch with a two-run homer that allowed Profar to score his first run with his new team.

The Braves didn’t spend for any of the top available set-up men during the offseason, but team officials have confidence in this group.

Based off of first impressions, Jared Jones picked up exactly where he left off from Pittsburgh Pirates spring training last year. After a solid rookie season, Jones made his first start of spring training in the Pirates’ 2-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday and didn’t show any signs of rust.
