Microsoft confirms its partnership with OpenAI remains intact despite OpenAI's new venture with Oracle and SoftBank, led by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son

The $500 billion Stargate Initiative — led by Trump, OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle — is set to revolutionize U.S. AI infrastructure.

Microsoft and OpenAI are loosening the tight bond that connects them. In future, OpenAI will be able to obtain cloud capacities for its AI from elsewhere.

According to a statement from OpenAI, “Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI” are the initial tech partners, with a buildout “currently underway” starting in Texas as other sites across the country are evaluated. It also says that “Oracle, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will closely collaborate to build and operate this computing system.”

Some of the funding would be used to help cover OpenAI’s $18 billion commitment to the recently announced Stargate project.
