French gangster Mohamed Amra, who was freed after a violent prison van ambush in May, was arrested in Romania on Saturday, the French interior minister said. His escape sparked a nationwide manhunt

Amra vanished after an attack with military-style assault weapons on a prison van carrying him in northern France last May, police say.

The Paris chief prosecutor said those arrested are alleged to have helped in the escape of Mohamed Amra in a deadly prison van ambush nine months ago.
