SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Police identified a man who died an avalanche in Silver Fork Canyon near Alta on Feb. 8. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department on Monday stated that Higinio Juan Gonzalez, 59, of Salt Lake City, was backcountry skiing with another man between Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood canyons when the avalanche was triggered.

Sheriff's officials have released the names of two backcountry skiers who were killed by an avalanche in Oregon's Cascade Mountains
