The Santa Monica Police Department on Thursday identified the suspect in the Wednesday shooting that injured a police officer and prompted a large search.

Police arrested a man suspected of opening fire at Santa Monica Place mall. The man is also a person of interest in an incident where a suspect shot at a Waymo.

The 31-year-old man suspected of shooting a Santa Monica Police Department officer just days after allegedly firing at two juveniles in a Waymo vehicle in the city was awaiting arraignment — possibly as early as Friday — and remained in custody in lieu of $1 million bail.
