A Virginia Lottery player won $150,000 in the Powerball drawing on Oct. 9, as the nation focused on the $1.55 billion jackpot.
But, more than 52,000 Powerball tickets bought in Virginia did win prizes on Saturday. That includes two tickets that each won $50,000.
The profits from lottery ticket sales benefit K-12 public education in Virginia. Since the drawing on Aug. 3, there have been ten Powerball wins in Virginia of $100,000 or more.
As of 5 p.m., Virginia Lottery confirmed $2,837,909 in Powerball sales statewide just on Friday. More than $1.1 million in Powerball tickets were sold just between 2 pm and 5 pm.
