Michiganders reeling from one wave of deadly storms are steeling for another. As weather watchers forecast more violent storms to sweep across the state Wednesday, residents — and officials — are preparing for more snow and ice, more dangerous winds, and maybe more tornadoes and flooding.
Residents of a rural northern Michigan community were isolated by an ice storm, but banded together to help each other with cooking and cleaning up.
Michigan could see snow, ice, thunderstorms and tornadoes, just days after an ice storm knocked out power to thousands of people in the state.
Severe weather is expected to impact Michigan on Wednesday, bringing the threat of damaging winds, flooding, and isolated tornadoes to different areas of the state.
The University of Michigan Biological Station is asking the public to refrain from walking its many trails following some severe ice storms.
This is easily the worst ice storm in modern times — in the last 50 years — and you have to go back all the way to 1922 to find something even remotely close,” said Harold Dippman, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Gaylord.
