A lake-effect snowstorm that lasted for days walloped Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula as thousands of motorists took to the roads for some dicey travel over the Thanksgiving weekend. There were some eye-popping snowfall reports and even a snowfall record as communities worked to clear the large accumulation of snow.

Lake effect snow is expected to bring multiple inches to Michigan after Thanksgiving, affecting travel with slick roads and reduced visibility.
