Hurricane Melissa is expected to weaken into an extratropical cyclone on Friday, Oct. 31, the National Hurricane Center said.

A Bloomberg News analysis found that at least 76% of the buildings in Black River, a port community near where the hurricane crashed into the Jamaica coast, were damaged, many with collapsed roofs.
Melissa’s terrifying trip through the Caribbean also piled on evidence of the influence of a warming ocean on an evolving hurricane landscape.
