“Fear Factor” has a long lineage. The series was originally hosted by Joe Rogan on NBC, then by Ludacris on MTV. Over the course of each episode, contestants vie for thousands of dollars by taking part in stunts that may involve physical challenges, gross-out demands and even extreme-action scenarios.

Fear Factor was an iconic competition show back in the early aughts, forcing contestants to face their fears in pursuit of a grand cash prize. Facing those fears wasn't for the faint of heart, with challenges ranging from physically challenging to downright disgusting.

Fox announced Monday that Johnny Knoxville will host a new "Fear Factor" show for the 2025 - 2026 season, tentatively titled "Fear Factor: The Next Chapter."
