Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper Networks can consummate their $14 billion tech merger under a proposed divestiture and software licensing settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Justice Department settled its lawsuit challenging Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s $13 billion takeover of Juniper Networks, less than two weeks before a trial was set to start.

HPE announced its plan to acquire Juniper in January 2024. The saga has a while to run as the DoJ set a 180-day deadline for the sale of HPE’s Instant On business, and it always takes a while for lawyers and finance folk to tie up all the loose ends on a big takeover of this sort.
