Conflicting claims have emerged over the fate of Jaffar Express hostages, with the BLA claiming mass executions while Pakistani security forces saying they have conducted a successful rescue operation.

The hijacking occurred on Tuesday afternoon as the train travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, carrying about 450 passengers, passed through a tunnel in Balochistan's rugged mountains.
