Hamas will release Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander from Gaza on Monday, the Palestinian militant group said, although Israel's prime minister said there would be no ceasefire and plans for an intensified military campaign would continue.

Alexander, believed to be the last living captive with US nationality in Gaza, was taken by Hamas during the 7 October attacks.

A Hamas source cited by local media said that Alexander would be released within 48 hours, after his parents and Witkoff arrived in Israel. Jerusalem was reportedly not party to the negotiations that led to the deal, and will not be required to free terrorists in return.
