(CBS DETROIT) — A Detroit father is facing a slew of felony charges in connection to the non-fatal shooting of his 2-year-old son .

The teen was in a home on the 18800 block of St. Aubin around 9:46 p.m. Monday when the gun he had been handling accidentally discharged and struck his 12-year-old cousin in the upper arm, Worthy's office said in a press release.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has arrested the father of a 9-year-old Compton boy in the child’s shooting death on Saturday. Princeton Jones, who was shot while playing outside his grandfather’s home at Haskins Avenue and Alondra Boulevard at around 7:40 p.

Detectives identified Nicholas Jones, of Compton, as a suspect, and on Dec. 1 he was arrested for murder and child abuse resulting in death.
