After this weekend's unseasonable heat, we'll experience classic Texas weather whiplash as near-freezing temps return in time for the end of 2025.
A cloudy morning, and then the skies to clear gradually throughout the afternoon. Highs in the low 50s early in the day, with temperatures dropping through the 40s and then 30s, with gusty winds making it an uncomfortable day to be outdoors.
Overnight Monday we see the coldest night in over a week as temperatures are likely to drop into the upper 20s for most, with teens in the High Country. Tuesday remains windy in the High Country, but winds calm down in the Piedmont.
In the week preceding Christmas, average temperatures from the Panhandle through the Keys have been as high as 7 degrees warmer than normal.
Strong gusts up to 45-50 mph are likely tomorrow morning behind the cold the front. A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for 12 am to 6 pm Monday.
Temperatures will remain in the warm trend, reaching the upper 60s. However, a strong cold front will be moving into the Heartland this afternoon and evening. Along this front, storms are possible and could produce strong gusty winds, with a weak, brief spin-up tornado possible.
The wind advisory, which warns of north winds blowing at 20 to 30 mph with gusts as strong as 45 mph, will be in effect starting at 6 p.m. Sunday.
