Chelsea lifted an imitation of the Club World Cup trophy — because the original is permanently housed in the Oval Office after being gifted to Donald Trump. The US president has revealed that he was given the trophy by FIFA president Gianni Infantino during a visit to the White House in March.
President Trump handed out trophies and medals after Chelsea beat PSG 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final. But there was one awkward moment on stage.
We all saw what happened when Chelsea won the 2025 Club World Cup on Sunday at MetLife Stadium: There was President Donald Trump standing up there with the winning team and star Cole Palmer looking very confused as to why he was up there. Nonetheless, Chelsea celebrated, and all was done there, right?

Much to the bemusement of Chelsea’s celebratory players, Trump planted himself in the heart of the blue scrum as Reece James eventually hoisted the Club World Cup trophy aloft. However, according to Trump himself, James and his teammates were celebrating with a replica, rather than the real thing.
I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused."
