Top officials in Arizona have certified the state’s election results. That certification Monday includes voters’ approval of a measure that expands abortion access from the current 15-week limit to the point of fetal viability.

Officially called a canvass in Arizona, the certification of votes drew heightened attention in 2020 and 2022 as some candidates denied their losses.

Donald Trump benefited from a rightward shift in Maricopa County, while Kamala Harris' and Democrats' ground game fell flat.

But two of his fellow Democratic state elected officials aren't quite convinced. The comments came as Arizona officially certified the 2024 election results.

Driving the news: There was no such drama Monday as Gov. Katie Hobbs, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, Attorney General Kris Mayes and Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Ann Timmer met to certify the 2024 general election results.

The Republic’s data team modeled and analyzed historical election data to create an estimate, which was rounded down to the nearest 10,000th vote.

Arizona officially certified the results of the 2024 General Election Monday morning. The election results had been already certified at the county levels last week, allowing for the recount process to begin for some races.
