Union Pacific reacquired No. 4014 from the RailGiants Museum in Pomona, California, in 2013, and relocated it back to Cheyenne to begin a multi-year restoration process.
The last was retired in 1962. Union Pacific donated No. 4014 in 1961 the RailGiants Train Museum. A year later the locomotive arrived in Pomona, according to a company news release.
The train departs for Cheyenne on Saturday morning. CBS Union Pacific took delivery of Big Boy No. 4014 in December 1941. It was retired in 1961 after traveling 1,031,205 miles in 20 years.
