With the 2025 hurricane season starting June 1, NOAA forecasters are announcing their prediction for how many tropical storms and hurricanes to expect this year.

There's a 60% chance that tropical storm activity will be above normal with just a 30% chance of a near-normal season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on May 22.

According to NOAA, there is a 30 percent chance of a near-normal season and a 60 percent chance of an above-normal season, with a 10 percent chance of a below-normal season.
