Thousands of people protesting mass deportations planned by President Donald Trump marched in Southern California, including in downtown Los Angeles where demonstrators blocked a major freeway.

Protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles on 2 February in response to a recent increase in ICE raids and deportations under President Trump's immigration crackdown. Thousands of people carrying Mexican flags and placards marched to Los Angeles City Hall before walking onto and blocking the 101 Freeway.

The protest was organized by residents and promoted on social media, KTLA and the Daily Breeze reported. The large crowd gathered Sunday morning on Olvera Street, a historic pedestrian street and part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument,

Draped in Mexican and Salvadoran flags, roughly 1,000 demonstrators gathered near City Hall shortly before noon, blocking traffic at Spring and Temple streets.
