The US Department of Health and Human Services has removed the 2024 surgeon general’s advisory on gun violence from its website. A link to the Office of the Surgeon General’s publications on firearm violence displays a “Page Not Found” message.

“U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy has issued a landmark Surgeon General’s Advisory on Firearm Violence, declaring firearm violence in America to be a public health crisis,” the website used to read. At least 10 prominent medical organizations wrote in support of Murthy’s advisory.

A webpage created last June marked the first time the Office of the Surgeon General issued an advisory on guns.
