The PGA Tour has done away with the staggered start for the FedEx Cup finale. In its place is a new pay structure with staggered bonuses to whoever is leading at three points in the final month of the season.

The FedEx Cup is a season long points competition which culminates with the FedEx Cup Playoffs, a series of three events to determine the FedEx Cup champion. The top 70 players in the standings are eligible for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. There are three events in the playoffs that shorten the players in the field by 20 after each tournament.

The Tour Championship, with its new format, will also have a new purse of $40 million with $10 million to the winner; the points leader after the BMW Championship will earn $5 million.
