Providence Health & Services and the union representing nearly 5,000 of its nurses have reached a tentative agreement amid a weeks-long strike.

Nurses on strike at all eight Providence hospitals across Oregon reached a tentative deal Friday to end the strike that has lasted 43 days. It’s the second time the nurses union has struck a deal with the hospital chain.

The union representing nearly 5,000 Providence nurses who have been on strike for six weeks has reached a tentative contract deal, for a second time.

The sellout contract, the result of the ONA’s meeting with Oregon Governor Tina Kotek three weeks ago, was resoundingly voted down by 83 percent.

Providence and the union representing its striking nurses will resume in-person talks for the first time since the two sides reached an ill-fated agreement nearly two weeks ago, the Oregon Nurses Association said Monday.
